JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a call for immediate humanitarian assistance to Sudan following catastrophic floods that struck the country earlier this week.

The deluge, described as unprecedented in its severity, has resulted in the deaths of hundreds and has trapped thousands in their homes, severely disrupting daily life.

The General Secretariat of the OIC has voiced deep concern over the extensive damage caused by the floods, which have devastated entire villages and cities, particularly in the northern and eastern regions of Sudan. The floods have left a trail of destruction, displacing communities and causing widespread hardship.

In response to the crisis, the OIC is urging its Member States and humanitarian organizations to mobilize resources and support to aid those affected by the disaster. The Secretariat has expressed heartfelt sympathy for the victims’ families and extended its support to all who have been impacted by the calamity.

The OIC is also calling for a concerted effort to provide relief and recovery assistance to help Sudanese communities rebuild and recover from this devastating event.
