OIC to Hold Emergency Meeting to Discuss Burning of Holy Qur’an in Sweden

JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has summoned an emergency meeting of the Executive Committee next week to discuss the burning of the Holy Qur’an in Sweden, Arab media reported on Friday.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the emergency meeting will be held in OIC’s headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The session will discuss the consequences of burning of a copy of the Holy Qur’an in Sweden.

The meeting will hold discussions to take the measures against the heinous act and to adapt a collective stance on the essential course of action.

Earlier, the OIC had strongly condemned the recurrence of these disgraceful attacks. The Muslim World League had also strongly denounced the crime of burning a copy of the Holy Qur’an in Sweden, as the scenes of this disgraceful act incite Muslims’ sentiments.

In a statement the Secretariat-General of the Muslim World League, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa condemned this heinous crime in Sweden.

Dr. Al-Issa warned against the danger consequences of these acts that promote hatred and incite religious sentiments.

Meanwhile, in Riyadh, the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) strongly condemned the burning of a copy of the Holy Qur’an by an extremist in the Sweden.
