JEDDAH: The 49th session of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers will be held in Nouakchott, Mauritania from March 16 to 17, OIC said on Wednesday. According to a press release issued by OIC, the theme of the 49th session of the OIC Council of Foreign is “Moderation: The Key to Security and Stability”.

Secretary-General of OIC Hissein Brahim Taha is expected to address the opening session of the (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers. The session will also address a range of economic, political, cultural, social, humanitarian, scientific, media, and other matters.
The Palestinian issue and recent developments in Al-Quds Al-Sharif will top the Council of Foreign Ministers agenda, in light of the continued attacks of Israeli troops on Palestinians. The session will also discuss recent developments in Afghanistan, the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOK), and Mali, as well as the conditions of Muslims communities in non-OIC member nations.
The session will also review current efforts to counter violent terrorism and extremism. It will also discuss the issue of Islamophobia, according with the first anniversary of the UN’s designation of March 15th as “International Day to Combat Islamophobia”. In this connection, a special session will also be held on the sidelines of the (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers to discuss this matter.
