OIC Supports Saudi Arabia’s Bid to Host FIFA 2034 World Cup

JEDDAH:  The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Thursday confirmed its full support for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host FIFA 2034 World Cup.

Secretary-General of the OIC Hissein Brahim Taha, lauded the statement of Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in this regard.

Earlier Crown Prince said that Riyadh’s desire to bid for the 2034 FIFA World Cup reflects the country’s progress in all areas.

Hissein Brahim Taha emphasized that Saudi Arabia possesses all the necessary human, logistical, and infrastructure capabilities to host a unique version of the World Cup.

He further highlighted that Saudi Arabia is a country of love, peace, and harmony, that will use football, the world’s most popular game, to spread love and peace to people worldwide.

He pointed out that Saudi Arabia’s successful hosting of numerous international and sporting events reflects the goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.

Meanwhile the Secretary-General congratulated King Mohamed VI and the Government and people of the Kingdom of Morocco on the approval of the joint and sole bid by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup tournament.

The Secretary-General conveyed his best wishes for a successful hosting of this edition of the World Cup by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, affirming his confidence in Morocco’s ability to host the mega event.
