JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed solidarity with Indonesia for its decision to reject the participation of the Israeli team in the FIFA Youth World Cup matches that were scheduled to take place in Indonesia this year.

In a statement, the OIC praised Indonesia’s principled position, stating that it demonstrates the country’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and its rejection of Israel’s aggressive policies towards the Palestinian people.

The statement also expressed the OIC’s dissatisfaction with FIFA’s decision to strip Indonesia of the right to host sporting events due to the country’s refusal to issue visas to the Israeli team.

Indonesia’s decision to deny entry to the Israeli team sparked controversy and resulted in the cancellation of the Youth World Cup, which was scheduled to take place in October and November of this year.

Israel’s participation in FIFA Youth World Cup

Israel’s Football Association (IFA) criticized Indonesia’s decision and accused the country of violating FIFA’s regulations. The IFA has also called on FIFA to take action against Indonesia for its refusal to host the event.

Indonesia has defended its decision, citing its long-standing support for the Palestinian cause and its objection to Israel’s occupation policies.

The OIC’s statement of solidarity with Indonesia reflects the widespread support within the Muslim world for the Palestinian cause and the ongoing struggle for Palestinian rights. It also highlights the continuing tension and controversy surrounding Israel’s participation in international sporting events.

The OIC’s stance is likely to be welcomed by many in the Muslim world who view Israel’s participation in such events as an affront to their values and principles.

However, it may also draw criticism from those who believe that sports should be kept separate from politics and that events such as the FIFA Youth World Cup should be open to all participating teams, regardless of political differences.
