JEDDAH: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly denounced the recent statements made by extremist Israeli occupation Minister Ben-Gvir, which advocate for the building of a synagogue within the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The OIC in a statement on Tuesday also condemned the ongoing incursions and desecration of the courtyards of the sacred mosque by extremist settler groups and ministers in the Israeli occupation government, carried out under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.
It said these actions are continuous violations of the sanctity of holy places and freedom of worship by Israel, the occupying force, as well as a blatant breach of the Geneva Conventions and international law.
The organization reaffirms that Al-Quds is an integral part of the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel in 1967 and serves as the capital of the State of Palestine. It stressed that all decisions and measures taken by the Israeli occupation to Judaize the occupied city of Al-Quds have no legal grounds and are considered null and void under international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
Furthermore, the OIC held the Israeli occupation government fully accountable for the consequences of these ongoing violations and systematic attacks, which not only provoke the sentiments of Muslims across the world but also risk fueling religious conflict, instability and extremism in the region.
The organization also renewed its call on the global community to take responsibility and intervene to stop these serious Israeli violations and to protect the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian holy places in the occupied city of Al-Quds.
