JEDDAH: The preparations for the 18th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation started on Sunday at the OIC General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah.
During the preparatory gathering, senior officials discussed and presented recommendations to be forwarded to the Extraordinary Ministerial Session, which will address the recurrent incidents of desecrating copies of the Holy Qur’an in Denmark and Sweden, Saudi Press Agency reported.
This virtual session would take place on Monday (31 July).
Yousef Bin Mohammed Al-Dubaie, the OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, addressed the preparatory meeting.
OIC lauds Saudi Arabia
He emphasized the appreciation of the OIC towards the Saudi Arabia, chair of the fourteenth Islamic Summit, and Iraq for their initiative in convening this session.
The session aims to address the problem of desecrating copies of the Holy Qur’an, a matter of great importance to the OIC member countries and the Muslims around the worls.
