OIC Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir Meets Pakistan Prime Minster

ISLAMABAD:  The OIC Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, Yousef M. Al Dobeay on Thursday held a meeting with Interim Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, a PM house statement said.

The Prime Minister during the meeting welcomed the visit of the OIC delegation to Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

He appreciated the sustained efforts of the OIC in support of the Kashmir cause, particularly in the wake of India’s unilateral and illegal actions of 5 August 2019 saying that the people of Pakistan and Kashmir had high expectations from the OIC.

Prime Minister Kakar said that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute was the main reason of tensions in South Asia adding that peace could not be achieved in the region till its resolution.

Pakistan committed to a just, peaceful resolution to Kashmir dispute

He said Pakistan was committed to a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.

Stressing the sacrifices of the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir for their inalienable right to self-determination, the Prime Minister said that the Kashmiris have always sought the support of the OIC and Ummah.

The Prime Minister also voiced serious concern over the rise of Islamophobia around the world, especially in the form of Hindutva. He said that Indian aggressive approach has become a serious threat to international peace and security asking the world to step up efforts to counter these forces.

Ambassador Yousef M. Al Dobeay said that the OIC has a principled position on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He further added that the OIC was fully committed to the Kashmir cause and his visit to Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir as OIC Special Envoy on Jammu and Kashmir shows that commitment.
