JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)has strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremists and groups of settlers, guarded by the Israeli occupation police.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, it said such incidents provoke the feelings of all Muslims and are a flagrant violation of the relevant international charters, conventions and resolutions.

The organization warned against the ongoing and escalating violations by the Israeli occupation in the occupied city of Jerusalem, stressing that Israel, as the occupying power, holds no sovereignty over the city and its holy sites.

It further reiterated that the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in its entirety, is a sacred place of worship reserved for Muslims.

It called upon the UN Security Council and UNESCO to fulfil their responsibilities in stopping the recurrent and severe Israeli violations of the sanctity of holy places and the freedom of worship.

It also reiterated its call to the global community to promptly and completely stop Israeli aggression and provide protection for the Palestinian people, their land, and holy sites.
