JEDDAH: The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, has met with Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka, Ali Sabry, and discussed the prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation, the OIC General Secretariat in a statement said on Sunday.
During the meeting at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah, Ali Sabry informed the Secretary-General about the condition of the Muslim Community in Sri Lanka and the steps taken by his government to improve it.
He reaffirmed his government’s principled position on the issue of Palestine and the support it has been extending to the two-state solution at the global level.

The Secretary-General underscored the importance that OIC attaches to the well-being of Muslim Communities and Minorities across the world and praised the keenness of the government of Sri Lanka to engage with OIC and lauded d the consistency of Sri Lanka’s support for the Palestinian cause.
He also expressed the readiness of the OIC General Secretariat to work closely with the Government of Sri Lanka on issues of mutual interest.
