OIC Secretary-General, Mauritania’s Foreign Minister Discuss Sudan Crisis

JEDDAH: Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mauritania Mohamed Salem Ould Marzouk on Tuesday discussed the crisis in Sudan, where fighting between the regular army and RSF has claimed hundreds of lives.

Both leaders held a telephone conversation in which they discussed the recent developments and crisis in Sudan. They emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and a return to the path of negotiations and dialogue.

Secretary-General on Sudanese people’s interests

They also urged that the interests of the Sudanese people should be prioritised. They agreed that commitment to the truce should be followed to ensure the delivery of aid and evacuation of the injured and the stranded people in the country.

The fighting between the regular army and the paramilitary RSF in Sudan has claimed around 400 lives since it erupted on 15 April.
