OIC Secretary-General Embarks on Official Visits to Indonesia and Thailand

JEDDAH: The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, is set to embark on an official visit to the Republic of Indonesia and the Kingdom of Thailand from 6 to 11 August 2023.

Accompanied by a high-level delegation representing several departments of the OIC General Secretariat, Hissein Brahim Taha aims to strengthen bilateral relations and address critical issues on the OIC agenda.

During his visit to Jakarta, Indonesia, the OIC Secretary-General is scheduled to hold a meeting with the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi. Discussions will revolve around enhancing the relations between the OIC and Indonesia, as well as finding ways to further collaborate on pressing matters within the OIC framework.

OIC Chief to Meet Secretary-General of ASEAN

Additionally, Hissein Brahim Taha will meet with the Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Dr. Kao Kim Horn, in Jakarta, to explore avenues for developing relations between the two organizations.

Continuing his visit in Bangkok, Thailand, the Secretary-General will meet with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Don Pramudwinai. The focus of this meeting will be on strengthening the existing relations between the OIC and the Kingdom of Thailand and discussing prospects for their advancement. Issues concerning the Muslim community in Thailand will also be addressed during the discussions.

These official visits signify the OIC’s commitment to fostering diplomatic ties and cooperation with member countries and observer states. The delegation’s engagement in various meetings with high-level officials demonstrates the OIC’s dedication to addressing pertinent regional and international matters in pursuit of shared objectives and solidarity among its member states.
