OIC Secretary-General Discusses Food Security with Qatar

DOHA: The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, hosted a meeting with His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, in Doha on October 3, 2023.

During the meeting, Mr. Taha congratulated Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani on the successful hosting of the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Food Security and Agricultural Development in Doha. The conference, held under the theme “Towards achieving the 2030 sustainable development goals in the OIC Member States,” was hailed as a success.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani expressed Qatar’s commitment to implementing the outcomes of the conference, which was chaired by Qatar, to address food security challenges in OIC Member States. He also reaffirmed Qatar’s dedication to supporting OIC activities across various domains.

In addition to discussions related to food security, the two leaders explored bilateral relations and various issues of mutual concern. These topics included deliberations on the situation in Afghanistan and strategies to counter Islamophobia.

The meeting underscored the commitment of both Qatar and the OIC to collaborate on critical regional and global matters, further strengthening their partnership in the pursuit of shared goals.
