JEDDAH: The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, has appealed to all warring parties in Sudan to work towards a comprehensive ceasefire and ending all forms of violence and fighting ahead of Eid Al-Adha.
He urged all and sundry to stop the shedding of Sudanese blood, mitigate their plight and allow permit organizations to carry out their duties and provide prompt humanitarian assistance to all affected areas in the length and breadth of Sudan during and after the sacred event of Eid Al-Adha.

He further said that the ceasefire during the Eid days would give all Sudanese citizens hope for a comprehensive end to fighting and violence and would help in strengthening the grounds provided by the Saudi-American initiative to negotiate a lasting ceasefire, to find a peaceful solution to the issue in ensuring security, peace and stability for the people of Sudan.
The Secretary-General called on all parties and relevant regional and international stakeholders in the Sudanese crisis to back the efforts towards an immediate ceasefire in the country and to make concerted efforts to urge all parties to show their devotion and commitment. He expressed the hope that this appeal for a comprehensive ceasefire during this blessed and sacred religious occasion would be supported and supervised by the Sudanese parties.
