OIC, King Salman Global Academy Celebrate World Arabic Language Day

JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language are arranging for the second year in a row a program to celebrate the World Arabic Language Day under the auspices of the Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Academy Prince Badr Bin Abdullah Bin Farhan.

The program will be organized under the theme: Arabic – Language of Poetry and Arts, and it is in continuation of the Academy’s efforts to hold activities and programs on this occasion within and outside Saudi Arabia, including at the United Nations, which was organized at the UN Headquarters in New York.

The celebration, which will be held at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah on January 14, 2024, will be inaugurated by the OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha, the Secretary-General of the Academy Professor Bin Abdullah Saleh Al Washmi, the Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the OIC Dr.

Saleh Bin Hamad Al Suhaibani, and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Saudi Arabia, Shaheen Abdulayev. The inauguration will also be witnessed by ambassadors and permanent representatives of OIC member countries.

The World Arabic Language Day celebration at the OIC will have two discussion sessions. The first is titled: “Arabic Poetry in Islamic Countries – Effect and Emotion,” while the theme of the second session is: “Arabic Language Arts in Islamic Countries.”

OIC Organs to Participate in Session

Personalities representing the OIC organs, the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) will participate in the sessions.

The event will be interspersed by poetry sessions showcasing extracts from the collections of poets from the Islamic world and will be read by three poets, Muhammad Ibrahim Muhammad Yaqub (Saudi Arabia), Bahrudeen Abdullah (Sudan) and Abdullah Muhammad Ubaid (Yemen).
