JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) collaborated with the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) to mark World Arabic Language Day, celebrated annually on December 18. The event, held under the theme “Arabic: The Language of Poetry and Arts,” took place at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah on January 14, 2024, under the patronage of HH Prince Bandar bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Saudi Minister of Culture, and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the KSGAAL.
The OIC Secretary-General, H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its support and emphasized the significance of Arabic as the language of the Noble Quran, integral to Islamic worship. The OIC adopted a ministerial resolution during its 49th Session, with the cooperation of Saudi Arabia, to celebrate World Arabic Language Day, showcasing a commitment to supporting the language in regional and international forums.

Highlighting the partnership between the OIC and KSGAAL, the Secretary-General praised their cooperation, resulting in various programs and activities, including training courses for Member States. The OIC aims to expand cooperation with KSGAAL to enhance capabilities in Member States.
H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, the Secretary-General of KSGAAL, emphasized the strategic cooperation between OIC and KSGAAL, stressing the unique significance of the Arabic language as a symbol of identity and the language of the Noble Qur’an. The commemoration included panel sessions, a poetry session, and an exhibition of Arabic poetry, highlighting the language’s role in global civilization.
