MUZAFFARABAD: Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC), on Sunday said Kashmir was the top priority of the OIC agenda list and he will present a comprehensive assessment report on the gruesome situation of human rights in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) to member countries.

The Secretary-General met with Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry and Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan after a brief visit to the refugee camps and Line of Control (LOC).
Addressing a joint press conference along with the president and prime minister, he said that he was paying a visit to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) under the OIC Contact Group on Kashmir’s resolution to assess the situation in the area and submit a comprehensive report to the body and the Foreign Ministers Council of the member countries.
He said that he would seek permission from India to visit the LOC’s other side also.

OIC wants to end Kashmiris’ sufferings
He further said that the purpose of his visit was express solidarity with the Kashmiri people who had been suffering for long. He assured the Kashmiris that OIC was making constant efforts to resolve the Kashmir problem and end their suffering.

He added that during his visit, he held meetings with people who were affected by Indian forces’ firing across LOC and refugees from the Indian side of the valley. –APP
