JEDDAH: Organization of Islamic Cooperation is following with deep pain and distress the tragic events going on in Palestine as a result of the continuous Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, in which thousands have been killed, wounded, and missing under rubble, OIC General Secretariat said in a statement on Thursday.

The statement said that Israeli attacks have caused extensive destruction to hundreds of houses and important infrastructure, leaving Gaza Strip without access to electricity, fuel, water, and medicines, while the Palestinian people have been internally displaced to avoid arbitrary strikes.

It said that the General Secretariat appreciated the important role played by member countries in providing vital supplies, including medical, food, and essential materials, and the response to the immediate needs to support the steadfastness of the Palestinians during this humanitarian ordeal.

OIC urges to help Palestinians

It hopes that member countries will continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people by providing maximum aid to alleviate the impact of the current humanitarian catastrophe. In this regard, it calls upon member nations and OIC institutions working in the humanitarian field and humanitarian bodies in the Muslim world to fast-track the delivery of urgent assistance to the Palestinian people to help them, the statement said.
