JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Sunday strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ deliberate targeting of press and media staff and their families in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The OIC in a statement expressed strong condemnation of the Israeli drone attack on a gathering of citizens that resulted in the killing of six citizens, including four brothers.

The two journalists, Hamza Wael Al-Dahdouh and Mustafa Thuraya, lost their lives in an Israeli bombing while reporting in Khan Yunis.

Hamza’s father, Wael al-Dahdouh, who serves as Al Jazeera’s bureau chief in the Gaza Strip, was recently wounded in a separate strike. Tragically, he had lost his wife and two children to another Israeli strike in the early weeks of the Israeli military bombardment.

Meanwhile, the UNICEF has called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to facilitate the provision of critical child survival interventions.

The health ministry in Gaza on Sunday reported that at least 22,835 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed in the ongoing Israeli bombardments in the besieged Palestinian territory since October 7.
