JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the extremist minister of the Israeli occupation government, Itamar Ben Gavir, and hundreds of extremist settlers.

According to an OIC statement on Wednesday, the organization has also denounced the desecration of courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the prevention of worshipers from accessing it, considering this a provocation to the feelings of Muslims across the world, and a blatant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions.

The OIC also warned against the danger of the continued  Israeli occupation policies to alter the Arab and Islamic identity of the occupied city of Al-Quds, emphasizing that Israel, the occupying power, has no sovereignty over the occupied city of Al-Quds and its holy places, and that the blessed Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif in its entirety is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims.

Furthermore, the OIC urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to fulfil its responsibilities to put an end to these serious and repeated violations of the sanctity of holy places and freedom of worship.

The OIC also stressed the need for a complete and immediate cessation of Israeli aggression and international protection for the people of Palestine.
