JEDDAH, Saudi, Arabia: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the recent escalation of Israeli actions in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, resulting in the deaths of two individuals on September 6, 2024.
Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, a 26-year-old American-Turkish solidarity worker, was killed by Israeli forces during a peaceful protest against Israeli settlement policies in the town of Beita, south of Nablus. In a separate incident, 13-year-old Bana Amjad Baker was killed by extremist settler militias, protected by Israeli forces, in Qaryut village, also south of Nablus.
The OIC holds Israel, as the occupying power, fully responsible for these acts, which it views as part of an ongoing pattern of “organized terrorism” and violations of international laws and UN resolutions. The organization has called for an independent international commission to investigate these incidents and hold the perpetrators accountable.
The OIC also urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to enforce its resolutions. This includes implementing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ending Israel’s colonial settlement policy, and terminating the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories.
