OIC Secretary General calls on member states, INGOs, and international institutions to intensify their efforts to provide suitable services to PWDS
RIYADH: Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hissein Brahim Taha, called on the members of the OIC, important OIC institutions, NGOs, and international organizations to work hard to provide good services for PWDs and to make people aware, improve human relations, acceptance and integration of these people.
Taha’s comments are linked with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The day takes place every year on December 21. 3. This day seeks to “promote the rights and interests of persons with disabilities in all areas of society and development.”

This year, the United Nations said, “In line with the central theme of the 2030 Agenda, for Sustainable Development is to ‘leave no one behind, it is critical that governments, the public, and the private sector work together and -finding new ways with people with disabilities..to make the world an accessible and equal place.

Taha also called on national organizations to establish effective systems to collect data on disabilities and people with disabilities to help develop appropriate policies and programs for their services.
The Statistical, Economic, Social Research and Training Center for Islamic countries has prepared a program for integrating people with disabilities in member countries. This program was organized in collaboration with the OIC.
The 48th meeting of the Council of Ministers, which was held in Islamabad in March, called for a discussion of development experts to review the work plan and finalize it before its submission to the conference. Ministry on social development.
