ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announced significant price reductions for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) on Friday, bringing relief to consumers amid ongoing economic challenges. The price of LPG per kilogram has been reduced by Rs19.45, with the new rate fixed at Rs177.29.

The reduction in LPG prices is expected to have a positive impact on household budgets, especially for those using LPG for cooking purposes. The price of the domestic cylinder, weighing 11.8 kilograms, has seen a substantial decrease of Rs229.54, reaching Rs2,092.

Energy Prices and Burden on Public

The move comes as the government seeks to mitigate the impact of rising energy prices and ease the burden on the public. OGRA’s initiative to lower LPG prices is in line with its efforts to ensure a more affordable and accessible energy market for consumers.

Additionally, on Wednesday, OGRA had recommended a reduction of up to Rs10 per liter in the prices of major petroleum products, including petrol and diesel. It is expected that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar will seek consultation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif before making the final decision on the proposed reductions.
