SRINAGAR: Tomorrow, a significant march is scheduled to take place toward Hyderpora in Srinagar, the summer capital of the region known as Indian illegally-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The purpose of this march is to pay tribute to Syed Ali Gilani, an iconic figure in the Kashmir resistance movement, on the occasion of his second martyrdom anniversary.

Syed Ali Gilani met his martyrdom on September 01, 2021, while in the custody of the Indian police at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar. He had been placed under continuous house arrest for over a decade, serving as a symbol of unwavering commitment to his cause.

The call for this march has been issued by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), and it has garnered support from various other organizations. Additionally, imams and ulema are set to include special prayers in their mosque services, commemorating the memory of the venerable leader. Notably, Kashmiris residing on both sides of the Line of Control and across the globe are planning to hold protest demonstrations. Their goal is to draw the attention of the international community to the harsh realities of Indian oppression within the occupied territory.

Leaders of the APHC, while paying their respects to the late Syed Ali Gilani, have expressed their deep admiration for his unwavering honesty and integrity. Gilani’s lifelong dedication to the Kashmiri cause has left an indelible mark on the history of the region. He is remembered as a hero who fearlessly championed the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people with exceptional courage. The leaders have affirmed their commitment to carrying forward Syed Ali Gilani’s mission, ensuring its eventual fulfilment regardless of the challenges faced.
