SRINAGAR, Occupied Kashmir: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has underscored the significance of the Kashmir issue as a United Nations-designated dispute and has called for a peaceful resolution in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

In a statement released in Srinagar, the APHC expressed its concerns over the escalating use of military force, increased raids on the residences of civilians, including activists and youth, and the confiscation of Kashmiri properties. It attributes these actions to the “sadistic and unrealistic approach” taken by the puppet regime of the Bharatiya Janata Party and its establishment towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

However, the APHC maintains that the people of Kashmir are determined to secure their inherent right to self-determination, a right guaranteed to them by the United Nations through its resolutions.

The APHC categorically refutes reports circulated by Indian agency-funded media, which suggest the Hurriyat’s involvement in so-called mainstream politics. It dismisses these reports as malicious propaganda designed to tarnish the image of the Hurriyat leadership and associated parties, at the behest of Indian agencies.

The organization deplores the arbitrary detentions of Kashmiris as a tactic employed by the Modi regime to coerce submission. It reports a recent wave of arrests by Indian troops in Srinagar and Baramulla districts, affecting not only political activists, journalists, and human rights defenders but also ordinary Kashmiri citizens who find themselves implicated in fabricated cases.

Reiterating its stance, the APHC emphasizes that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute, awaiting a final settlement through dialogue involving all stakeholders, in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.

Condemning the Indian government’s authoritarian and uncompromising approach, the APHC contends that all repressive measures undertaken in the occupied territory have failed. It calls upon New Delhi to abandon its obstinacy and acknowledge the prevailing ground reality in occupied Kashmir.

The APHC appeals to the United Nations Human Rights Council and other human rights organizations to take note of the widespread killings, arbitrary arrests, and repressive practices carried out by Indian forces in the occupied territory. The organization is committed to advocating for the protection of human rights and the resolution of the Kashmir dispute through peaceful means in accordance with international law and United Nations resolutions.
