Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Named Among 200 Greatest Singers

ISLAMABAD: Legendary Pakistani singer Shahen Shah-e-Qawwali Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was included in the list of 200 greatest singers in human history by the leading American magazine ‘Rolling Stone’.

As reported by a private news channel, the magazine termed Nusrat Fateh Ali as emperor of qawwali and also praised his centuries-long family legacy full of musicians and devotional Sufi music. According to the report, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan has been ranked 91st on the list of all time.

Another melodious voice of the sub-continent and a famous Indian singer from India Lata Mangeshkar has also been placed on the list of greatest singers who also has millions of fans and admirers. 

Egyptian singer Umme Kulsum has also been placed on the list whereas Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Billy Eilish also occupied the list.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, a Pakistani singer, and songwriter, also famous as Shahenshah-e-Qawwali (King of Qawwali) was primarily famous for his enchanting Qawwali and was born on 13 October 1948. 

He was not only famous in the sub-continent but his mesmerizing voice has inspired millions of fans across the globe. In 2016 famous US magazine LA Weekly described him as the fourth greatest singer of all time.

New York Times described him as the greatest Qawwali singer of his generation. He not only performed in Pakistan but India, France, the UK, and scores of other countries and grabbed hundreds of awards and distinctions. He passed away on 16 August 1997 but remained alive in the hearts of millions of people across the world for his melodious voice.
