RIYADH: The director general of the World Nuclear Association Sama Bilbao y Leon said on Tuesday that nuclear energy offers a golden chance to help build a clean world.
Sama Bilbao y Leon was addressing the 44th IAEE International Conference in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh. The DG said that nuclear energy offers the chance to build a more equitable world in which all have access to “clean energy and high quality of life.”

She said that nuclear energy is a low-carbon solution, cost-effective, and a catalyst for economic development and progress. However, she said that much work is required to deploy nuclear power with resolve and speed.
Leon was of the view that the present energy market is not stable, and there is a need to take a step back and adopt scientific and systematic approaches to make the maintainable energy transition a success.

On the occasion, the Executive Director of strategic planning at the Saudi Electricity Co. Yousef Al-Ghamdi said that renewable energy will play a key role in the energy transition.
