SEOUL: North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un has said his country will speed up measures toward becoming a military superpower with nuclear arms and would not rule out using them if it came under enemy strike, official news agency KCNA reported.
Reuters reported that Kim Jong Un mentioned that South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol by name for the second time in a week in condemning Seoul for colluding with Washington to destabilize the entire region to gloss over the fact it does not even have proper strategic arms.
“Yoon Suk Yeol made some tasteless remarks regarding the end of the Republic in his speech, and it shows he is completely consumed by his blind faith in his master’s strength,” KCNA reported.
He said that to be honest, they have absolutely no intention of attacking South Korea. He added that if the enemies try to use force against their country, the military will use all offensive power without hesitation. “This does not prevent the use of nuclear weapons, he remarked.
Kim Jong Un maintained, “Our footsteps towards becoming a military superpower and a nuclear power will accelerate,”.
Earlier, South Korea marked an annual armed-forces day with a large military parade displaying a ballistic missile capable of carrying a massive warhead and featuring a flypast of an American strategic bomber.
In his address that day, Yoon also warned the North Korea against using nuclear arms. “That day will see the end of the North Korea’s regime.”
KCNA reported that Kim made the remarks on Monday, the same day the North Korea has said its Supreme People’s Assembly would meet to discuss amending the nation’s constitution. In a separate report, KCNA reported that Kim sent a birthday message to Russian leader Vladimir Putin, calling him his “closest friend and adding “strategic and cooperative ties” between the two nations will be raised to a new level.
