SEOUL: North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un has lauded Russian aviation technology undergoing quick development, beating the external potential threats, during his trip to a Russian fighter jet factory, KCNA said on Saturday.

Earlier, on Friday North Korean leader inspected the fighter jet factory in Russia, AFP reported. Russian President Putin and Kim Jong Un exchanged views on military affairs, the conflict in Ukraine and cooperation when they held meeting on Wednesday.
Moscow said on Friday that North Korea and Russia had not inked any deals on military matters or on any other fields during Kim’s trip to Russia this week.
Earlier, Russian President Putin accepted an invitation from Kim Jong Un to visit North Korea, official news agency KCNA reported on Thursday. It added that the Russian leader accepted the invitation with pleasure and reiterated his will to consistently carry forward the history and tradition of the Russia-North Korea friendship.
The United States and South Korea said on Friday that defence cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang was a violation of UN sanctions against North Korea.
Similarly, the U.S. State Department said that the U.S. would not hesitate to impose more sanctions on North Korea and Russia if they conclude any new arms agreements.
State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller expressed these remarks at a briefing in response to questions regarding the meeting in Russia between President Putin and Kim Jong Un.
Miller stated that the US has taken several actions to sanction organizations that brokered weapons sales between Russia and North Korea and would not hesitate to impose new sanctions if suitable. He added that it was troubling that North Korea and Russia are discussing cooperation that could violate UNSC resolutions.
