SEOUL: North Korea tested 4 strategic cruise missiles on Friday during an exercise to demonstrate its capacity to counter hostile forces, state-run media reported.
The North Korean official news agency KNCA reported that the operational strategic cruise missile unit participated in the drill to enhance its capacity. It added that operational strategic cruise missile unit of Korean Army fired at least 4 “Hwasal-2” missiles in Hamgyong province towards the sea off the east coast of the Peninsula.
Strategic Cruise Missiles Fired by North Korea: State Media
The news agency added that all the four missiles hit a preset target following traveling the “2000km-long (1,242.7 miles) for 10,208 seconds to 10,224 seconds,”.
KCNA stated that the exercise demonstrated the war position of the North Korea nuclear combat force, boosting up in every way its deadly nuclear counterattack ability against the hostile elements.

The cruise missiles were not announced by Seoul or Tokyo, which frequently notice and openly report North Korean missile launches.
South Korea and the United States formally participated in a tabletop exercise that focused on the possibility of North Korea using nuclear arms, the Pentagon claimed on Thursday.
Many tests and launches, including ICBM on Saturday, were reported by North Korean state media as exercise designed to enhance the abilities of the forces operating the weapons.
