SEOUL: North Korea fired a suspected ballistic missile on Wednesday, South Korea’s military and Japan’s defence ministry said, hours after the US separately deployed B-1B bombers for allied air exercises.
No more information was immediately available about the latest test by Pyongyang.
The test comes as the United States and South Korea prepare to wrap up eleven days of combined military exercises, which Pyongyang has criticized, according to media reports.
The B-1B bombers conducted separate air exercises with war jets from Japan and South Korea earlier on Wednesday.
Ban on North Korea’s Ballistic Missiles
North Korea’s ballistic missiles are banned by United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions that have imposed strict sanctions on the nuclear-armed nation.
However, the sanctions and pressure from the West could not stop Pyongyang from carrying on its nuclear and ballistic missile program. It conducts ballistic missile tests on a regular basis.
