North Korea Fires 3 Short-range Ballistic missiles into East Sea: Seoul

ISLAMABAD: A day after Seoul conducted a test flight of a homegrown solid-propellant space rocket, North Korea fired three short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea on Saturday, according to Seoul’s military.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff disclosed that the launch from North Hwanghae Province was detected, however, no other details were provided.

The JCS stated that the South Korean military, in a close linkage with the US, was maintaining a complete readiness posture, while boosting its vigilance and monitoring capabilities.

North Korea test comes on heels of Seoul’s success of space vehicle launch

On Friday, as part of efforts to strengthen its space-based surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, Seoul successfully carried out the test of the space launch vehicle according to the country’s ministry of defense.

The missile launch on Saturday coincides with Pyongyang’s expected announcement of its policy aims for 2023.
