SEOUL: North Korea has reportedly exchanged views on the outcome of its leader Kim Jong-un’s recent trip to Russia in a party session, local media reported on Friday.
The North’s official news agency KCNA reported that the central committee of the Workers’ Party held a meeting to discuss the visit of Kim.
The KCNA said the meeting, analyzed the importance of Kim’s trip and also discussed long-term plans for developing bilateral ties between Russia and North Korea.
Kim Jong-un, who attended the party meeting, reportedly called for the vigorous implementation of constructive steps to further realize and develop bilateral ties in diverse fields.
Kim’s trip to Russia, had focused deeply on defense cooperation, AFP reported. Kim’s first official trip abroad since the Covid-19 epidemic has sparked concerns that Russia and North Korea will challenge Western sanctions to secure a weapons agreement that could help Russia continue its attack against Ukraine.
