DUBAI: Designers Shaikha Noor Al-Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Al-Khalifa of Bahraini label ‘Noon by Noor’ this week unveiled their spring/summer 2024 collection in London on the sidelines of ‘London Fashion Week’.
The collection, named “Moonlit,” draws inspiration from the interplay of light and shadow in the moon. It embodies the harmonious fusion of contrasting elements across various dimensions, including color palettes, fabric choices, structural designs, emotional vibes, and silhouettes.
Within the collection, cape-like sleeves create an ethereal and voluminous effect, with daring low cuts and narrowing cuffs. Square-cut shirts, some cropped, others transformed into bibs, or featuring buttoned hems, contribute to the collection’s volume and versatility.
Utilitarian cargo pockets make a stylish appearance on chinos, shorts, and cotton dresses, tied at the back for added flair. Jackets, on the other hand, showcase clean lines and a minimalist aesthetic, devoid of linings, facings, or canvas.
Shaikha Noor Al-Khalifa emphasized the diverse persona of their Noon by Noor woman, stating, “A mother, a boss, a leader. Our woman at Noon by Noor embodies all of these roles and more,” underscoring the brand’s commitment to inclusivity and celebrating the multifaceted roles that women play.
Shaikha Haya Al-Khalifa shed light on the brand’s adaptable creative process, stating, “Working in the Middle East in August means dealing with extreme heat and humidity. We incorporated these elements into our show’s aesthetic. We envisioned our woman with a glossy and wet appearance, as if she had just emerged from a refreshing shower or a swim in the sea – exuding confidence and strength.”
London Fashion Week, running until September 19th, commenced with the second annual Vogue World event. The gala event featured the presence of part-Middle Eastern actress Yara Shahidi, who garnered attention in a stunning deep-purple dress from British designer Victoria Beckham’s Fall/Winter 2023 ready-to-wear collection.
The grand affair, hosted at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, also saw the attendance of Canadian supermodel Winnie Harlow, who graced the red carpet in a striking black velvet gown, accompanied by a voluminous floor-length white cape designed by Lebanese fashion maestro Zuhair Murad. The dress boasted a daring plunging neckline, complemented by Harlow’s choice of black opera gloves and exquisite diamond jewellery.
