LONDON: Pakistan’s former finance minister Ishaq Dar said on Saturday that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif is set to land in the country on October 21. He expressed these views during a press conference in London. Ishaq Dar said, “There are no obstacles to Nawaz Sharif’s participation in the upcoming elections in the country”.

Ishaq Dar said that the country’s parliament approved article 62 (1) (f), which reduced the disqualification sentence to five years. He maintained that Nawaz Sharif and Jahangir Tareen could take part in elections after the new law. Dar added that Maryam Nawaz has also been acquitted in the second joint case. The former minister said that a warm welcome will be given to Nawaz Sharif upon his return to Pakistan.
Responding to a question regarding PPP leader and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Ishaq Dar refrained from making comments, saying, “Bilawal is like a son to me,” and refused to elaborate further.

He said that the PDM government took all decisions as per consensus. Replying to another question regarding the alliance with the Istehkam-e-Pakistan party, he said that it is too early to comment.
Earlier, former member of the National Assembly, Raja Riaz Ahmed, formally announced his decision to join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) during a meeting with Nawaz Sharif, and Shehbaz Sharif in London.
Raja Riaz Ahmed expressed his full confidence in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and made the formal announcement of his affiliation with the PML-N. Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Mian Nasir Janjua, Attaullah Tarar, Malik Ahmed Khan, Azam Nazir Tarar, and Amjad Parvez also attended the meeting.
Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Raja Riaz Ahmed into the PML-N fold, emphasizing the importance of a united front to address the challenges facing Pakistan and work towards the betterment of the nation.
