LONDON: A pro-Palestinian protest march arranged for Armistice Day in the United Kingdom will go ahead, the head of London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed on Tuesday.

Sir Mark Rowley was of the views that there was no “legal mechanism” to stop such a gathering or protest but his officers would keep protest demonstrators away from the Central London, where remembrance events will also take place on Saturday. However, the tactic of officers will change if the protestors attempt to move toward central London, he maintained.

The Gaza Health Ministry said over 10,300 Palestinians have been killed by Israel’s airstrikes on the Gaza Strip in the last 31 days, including over 4,100 kids. Earlier on Tuesday, the International Committee of the Red Cross said that a humanitarian convoy carrying medical supplies came under fire in Gaza City.

According to the Arab News, the convoy of 5 trucks and two Red Cross vehicles was transporting supplies to hospitals, including to Al-Quds hospital, when it was attacked, in a statement ICRC said. According to the Red Cross two trucks were also damaged in the attack. It further added that a driver also received minor injuries after the attack.

The war has also taken a toll on healthcare workers in Gaza, with over 16 medical professionals losing their lives while on duty, according to the World Health Organization. Medical aid is also facing severe restrictions, leading doctors to perform surgeries, including amputations, without anesthesia due to the lack of supplies.

Britain PM Rishi Sunak and Home Secretary Suella Braverman had asked Rowley to stop any protest from taking place on November, 11. Rowley stated that he has talked to organizers of the march, who gave assurances that it would remain “well away” from that part of the city.
