Islamabad—–The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Islamabad on Friday denied reporting any suspected case of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Pakistan.
It said that Pakistan is not facing a direct threat of Ebola cases and the news circulating on social media about Ebola cases in Pakistan is incorrect. Keeping in view the situation of Uganda in September 2022, NIH had advised trade and travel organizations including Central Health Establishment (CHE) and Border Health Services to remain vigilant and keep on monitoring the passengers coming from outbreak affected countries.
It is important to mention here that Uganda is currently facing a deadly Ebola outbreak in the country. According to their health ministry, they have 48 confirmed cases including 17 deaths of healthcare workers. They said that there are additional 20 suspected deaths caused by Ebola before the confirmation of the virus.
On social media, rumors were rife that a suspected case of Ebola virus has been reported in Pakistan, however, NIH categorically denied these speculations.
