ISLAMABAD: National Highway Authority (NHA) will start tree plantation and maintenance work on the Motorway M-1 Punjab section with an estimated cost of Rs 45,491,200.
The Authority will begin the process of plantation of 11,000 olive seeds, 7,000 ornamental plants and 5,000 forestry plants from Thallian Interchange to New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA) Gate.
Project to cover 5km of motorway
The project covering an area of 5 kilometers of the motoway will be carried out through a private partner which would also be responsible for 2 years of maintenance.
The tree plantation will help in reducing soil erosion, dust control, shade and carbon sequestration, improving visibility and beautification.—APP
