DUBAI: New York City will host a highly anticipated match between arch-rivals Pakistan and India, as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has finalized venues for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, to be held in the United States and the West Indies.

The mega tournament will feature 20 teams competing for the coveted trophy.

The qualifying teams will go through an initial phase, divided into four groups, each consisting of five teams. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8 round, where they will be split into two groups of four.

From there, the top two teams from each of these groups will progress to the semi-finals, culminating in the title match.

Venues for T20 World Cup 2024

A significant event in cricket often involves a clash between arch-rivals Pakistan and India, considered one of the sport’s most intense rivalries. Likewise, the two teams will face off once again in the T20 World Cup 2024.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to reveal the venue for this highly anticipated encounter between the arch-rivals, as reported by Cricbuzz on Wednesday.

It is expected that the venue will be constructed near Long Island, approximately 30 miles east of Manhattan in Eisenhower Park, New York.

The official announcement will follow once negotiations between the ICC and New York City officials are finalized.

Initially, the plan was to build the ground in the Bronx. However, due to opposition from local residents near the park and one of the cricket leagues based in the same park, the ICC reconsidered.

It’s worth noting that Pakistan’s last encounter with India in an ICC event took place at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground during the T20 World Cup 2022, where Virat Kohli played a memorable innings to guide the Indian team to victory.

Prior to that, the two teams met at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium during the T20 World Cup 2021, where Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, secured their first-ever win against India in an ICC event with a stunning ten-wicket victory.
