NEW YORK: Torrential rains overnight in the northeastern US left areas of New York underwater on Friday, moderately paralyzing airports and subways in America.
Mayor Eric Adams asked people not to venture out as the streets were choked and subway stations flooded. He said that some of the subways were flooded and it was extremely hard to move around the city.
New York Flooded by Torrential Rains, Subway Paralyzed
Pictures from around New York City showed vehicles half-submerged and traffic scrambled, with some key roads completely choked. Several shopkeepers in flooded stores were making efforts to protect merchandise and push the water back into the roads.
Taxi driver Ahmed Abdou strongly criticized officials for struggling to deal with the situation in New York. He said that the subway in New York is awful. The city Governor Kathy Hochul declared an emergency after the heavy rain and storm.
