New Delhi Must Ensure Accountability Over Killing of Sikh Leader: Blinken
The US top diplomat said Washington has been in touch with India and Canada, which expelled an India’s diplomat over the row.
Talking to media persons in Washington, Biden said that they wanted to see accountability over the matter and it was significant that the probe run its course and lead to that outcome. He said that the US took the matter very seriously.
Earlier, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that Indian agents played a major role in the June murder of the Canadian citizen and leader of Sikh Hardeep Singh Nijjar near Vancouver. He on Thursday asked New Delhi to cooperate on the probe.
Nijjar was also part of the Khalistan movement, which advocates an independent Sikh homeland in India.
