ISLAMABAD: In a major relief for power consumers, the National Electric Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has slashed the electricity tariff by 32 paisa per unit for X-WAPDA power distribution companies (DISCOs) for the month of October under the monthly basis mechanism of fuel cost adjustment (FCA).
According to the National Electric Regulatory Authority notification, on behalf of X-WAPDA DISCOs, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G) had sought a 25 paisa decrease in the power tariff for the said period.
NEPRA decreases power tariff under FCA mechanism
On November 29, the NEPRA authority conducted a public hearing into the petition of CPPA-G with Chairman NEPRA in the Chair.
The fuel cost adjustment for the month of October would be charged 40 paisa less as compared to the fuel cost adjustment for the month of September. It would apply to the December billing.
The decrease in the power tariff would apply to all consumers of DISCOs except K-Electric, charging stations of electric vehicles, consumers using up to 300 units, Agri, and lifeline consumers.
