ISLAMABAD: Electricity consumers are set to face another tariff hike of Rs2.63 per unit on account of the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for electricity that was used during June 2024.

On behalf of distribution companies (DISCOs), the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), has formally submitted an application to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for an increase in the electricity price by Rs2.6307 kWh under the FCA.

According to the detailed submission by the CPPA, the reference fuel cost collected from consumers for June was set at Rs7.1403 per unit, while the total actual prices per unit amounted to Rs9.7710.

NEPRA has scheduled a public hearing to review and discuss the application on July 31.

This potential hike would impose an additional financial burden on electricity consumers, following the recent government-approved base tariff increase of up to Rs 7.12, effective from July 2024.
