STAFF REPORT

ISLAMABAD: The power regulator ‘National Electric Power Regulatory Authority‘ (NEPRA) of Pakistan has announced good news for the citizens of Karachi as NEPRA on Wednesday said that K Electric of Karachi city will reduce its monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for October 2022.

NEPRA has approved the reduction of Rs 2.45 paisas per unit in the monthly fuel charges adjustment of K Electric for October 2022.

Fuel Charges Adjustment of 2.45 paisas approved

K Electric had earlier requested NEPRA for a reduction of Rs 1.88 paisas per unit, upon which the NEPRA held a public hearing on FPA on 30 November 2022 and approved the FCA of Rs 2.45 paisas.

This decision of FCA by NEPRA is applicable only for a single month. After the rulings of honorable courts for providing relief to the consumers upon the variable price of petroleum, NEPRA tries to manage the FCA monthly. NAP said that the reduction of FCA would not apply to lifeline customers, domestic customers up to 300 units, agricultural customers, and electric vehicle for-stations.
