ISLAMABAD: As the masses are already facing the consequences of skyrocketing inflation, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Monday notified Rs6 per unit increase in the power tariff for K-Electric (KE) consumers.
In the context of two quarterly fuel cost adjustments, the federal government had previously asked the regulator to hike the tariff for K-Electric consumers by up to Rs6.02 per unit under two previous quarterly adjustments and allow recovery from consumers from April to June to ensure uniform national tariff.
The K-Electric consumers will be charged the increased tariff from April to June 2023. The Power Division proposed increasing by Rs3.03 per unit for consumers using 200 units during April and May and then Rs1.55 per unit in June.
Similarly, it had proposed Rs4.76 per unit hike for consumers using up to 700 units in April and May and by 1.55 per unit in June 2023.
It has proposed an increase of Rs6.02 per unit for all other categories in these three months.
