Tariff Increase for K-Electric Consumers
In case of the approval of the request, consumers of KE would be further charged Rs10.32 per unit, which would be recovered in three different quarterly adjustments for the fiscal year 2022-2023.
Meanwhile, the request for a raise of Re0.47 per unit would be applicable in quarterly adjustment for the month of October to December 2022, while the request for recovery of Rs4.45 per unit would be applied under quarterly adjustment for July to September 2022.
The quarterly adjustment for the month of April to June 2023 was requested to be enhanced by Rs5.40 per unit.
As per the policy guidelines, the energy ministry has requested NEPRA to review its decision issued on May 22, 2023, and to issue separate SoT for K-Electric with applicable uniform prices after incorporating tariff rationalization advised in the request on March 17, 2023 (Rs.1.4874 to Rs.4.4547/kWh for different consumer categories).
In addition, the authorities in the ministry have requested that a hearing be provided for the purpose of providing detailed submissions. In the earlier hearing, held on August 23 this year, for the fourth quarterly adjustment of XWDISCOs, the Energy Ministry had submitted to apply the same on KE consumers as well, according to the policy guidelines.
Accordingly, the power regulatory authority has summoned a hearing on September 11 at 2 pm.
