Nepalese Envoy for Exploring Tea Trade between Nepal, Pakistan

KARACHI: Nepalese ambassador to Pakistan Tapas Adhikari has stressed the need to explore the possibility of exporting tea from Nepal to Pakistan.

The envoy met with the chairman of the Pakistan Tea Association (PTA) H M Zeeshan Paracha and other PTA members in Karachi to discuss the possibility of tea trade between the two neighbouring countries.

The PTA members agreed to visit Nepal to take stock of the country’s tea production facilities, quality control mechanisms, and order delivery system.

The ambassador assured full cooperation of the Nepalese embassy to the PTA members concerning their visit to Nepal.

Nepal’s Tea Exports 

Nepal is one of the world’s top tea producers, having demand for its high-quality tea in various countries like India, China, Sri Lanka, the United States, Australia and Europe. The land-locked south Asian country exported $29.6 million worth of tea in the fiscal year 2020-21.
