Nepal Envoy Honours Pakistani Climbers for Mount Everest Summit

ISLAMABAD: Nepal’s ambassador to Pakistan, Tapas Adhikari organised an event to mark the 70th anniversary of the first successful expedition to Mount Everest and to honour Pakistani climbers Naila Kiani and Nadia Azad for their recent successful ascent to the world’s tallest peak.

Ambassador Adhikari applauded Pakistani climbers who had recently ascended Mount Everest, bringing great recognition to the mountaineering field. Naila Kiani, Nadia Azad and Sajid Ali Sadpara were specifically identified as the three climbers who successfully ascended the world’s tallest mountain.

The ambassador congratulated all of the climbers and sent his prayers and best wishes for their future endeavours. He emphasized the importance of climbing for Nepal and assured the mountaineering industry that the Nepali government is offering all necessary support. Nepal is well-known for its mountains, and the government actively promotes mountain tourism.

Ambassador Adhikari also welcomed Everest Summiteers Mingma G Sherpa and Dawa Sherpa from Nepal, who are aiming to summit Nanga Parbat. He conveyed his warmest wishes and prayers for their success in their endeavor.

Ambassador Adhikari also emphasized unknown aspects of Nepal’s government policy to encourage climbing and praised the Sherpa community’s efforts to promote mountaineering activities in Nepal and around the world.

He continued on to say that Sherpas are well-trained, skilled, dependable, trustworthy, and helpful and that their efforts helped in the growth of mountaineering in other countries. He added that Sherpas are Nepal’s soft power and that Nepalis value their commitment to raising the country’s profile. He asked Pakistanis to participate in mountaineering and adventure tourism so that Nepal could provide the greatest facilities and services to its people. During the event, the ambassador presented Naila Kiani and Sajid Ali Sadpara with certificates recognizing their ascent of Mt. Everest.

Naila Kiani became the first Pakistani woman climber to reach the summit of five 8,000-meter peaks, including Mount Everest. Nadia Azad and Sajid Ali Sadpara also made it to the Mount Everest and proudly raised the Pakistani flag. Naila Kiani revealed her next trip in a media interview, which will be an effort to conquer the incredible Nanga Parbat, the world’s ninth-highest peak.

Despite its reputation as one of the most difficult mountains in the world, Naila emphasised her complete readiness and commitment to reach the summit. Nanga Parbat is a mountain in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Diamer district.

During her stay to Nepal, Naila Kiani acknowledged the assistance provided by the Nepali government and people, underlining the Nepali people’s kindness towards Pakistanis. Sajid Ali Sadpara spoke to the media about his experiences and mentioned that the Nepalese government is ahead of Pakistan in terms of offering technical help to climbers from all over the world. Mountaineer Sirbaz Khan reflected on his climbing path, stating that he began as a kitchen boy alongside climbers, but it was Mingma G who recommended him to pursue a career in mountaineering. He attributed his success to Mingma G and extended his gratitude to him.
