ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has recently launched the ‘Disaster Management Coordination Forum’ (DMCF), a national-level platform aimed at strengthening coordination among provinces in disaster management efforts.
This forum is structured to offer strategic direction and oversee disaster management activities at both national and provincial levels, as reported in a press release.
The inaugural session of the DMCF was held at the NDMA Headquarters under the leadership of Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik. It was attended by all members, including NDMA senior management, as well as the Director Generals of Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs), Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA), and State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).
Scheduled to convene quarterly, the DMCF will focus on addressing issues detailed in its Terms of Reference (TORs). Additionally, NDMA’s Disaster Risk Reduction Wing will provide administrative support, ensuring the smooth functioning of the forum.
This initiative underscores NDMA’s commitment to fortifying disaster preparedness and response mechanisms nationwide, fostering a cooperative environment for effective disaster management.
