ISLAMABAD: Veteran politician and senior lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan has predicted that PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif would leave Pakistan well before the upcoming general elections and watch the results unfold from there.
Talking to a private television channel, Aitzaz made another claim and said that JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman was retreating from elections amid fear of possible defeat in the polls.
The PPP stalwart called Nawaz Sharif a “ladla”(favoured) and had claimed that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the caretaker government were staging the set for Nawaz Sharif to have a two-thirds majority in the upcoming general elections.
Rift Between PTI And Election Commission
Talking about the ongoing skirmish between PTI and the election commission, Aitzaz said it would be an unwise move for the commission to prolong the matter.
The ECP and PTI were at the loggerheads over the retaining of the iconic bat symbol of the party following the annulment of its intra-party elections for not complying with the Elections Act and as per the party’s own constitution.
It is worth noting that Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan on October 21 after spending four years in self-imposed exile. After his return, PML-N leadership and supporters hope to have a sweeping victory in the coming election. However, PTI is blaming Nawaz Sharif and his party for a possible rigging and support of the establishment in the election.
